Managing Dreams
December 13th 2007 by Prof. Emeritus Goreng in UncategorizedDo you have dreams?
.
I do…they’re rather big in fact. I have been working towards achieving them for over a year now. Kinda tired but as long as I don’t give up, I believe one day they will come true.
.
What should you do with your dreams? Well, I attended some classes and courses by a few self development experts; one of them actually mentioned that there are always ways to go about organizing or dealing with dreams.
.
The most important thing is not to spread the news too fast and too far. There are just so many dream stealers out there. Dream stealers here refer to people who either take your idea, or spread it to too many people, for not really good reasons.
.
There are also dream killers whom you should beware of. Especially if you have dreams which are wild and big, keep it to yourself as much as possible. Some people just can’t stand seeing yourself more successful than themselves. They may give you alot of ‘good’ reasons why you shouldn’t waste your time working on the ‘impossible’ dreams.
.
There is one exception to this though. You can and should share your dreams with those who have done something better or even similar to what you’re trying to attempt. You will have to select this person/group of person very carefully though. You may even actively seek for this group of people, if you have not had any contacts yet. If they can really be of help, share your dreams with them by all means.
.
By sharing your dreams with the right person/s, you can in fact accelerate growth and solve problems faster. It’s just a journey of overcoming obstacles and reaching your destination by the end of it, anyway. Overcoming problems with a group of friends who had been there, done that, it will be very much easier. You will also be more motivated to move ahead.
.
Oh ya…It’s also very important to share your dreams with your closest family members or partner. They should be able to give you a boost when things are not going very right.
.
I would also like to share with you something called the ‘dream catcher’. Most people easily get distracted whenever new ideas come to mind. They start working on project A and then realize that there’s another project which may give better results. They stop the project altogether, and start Project B. The same thing may happen over and over again, and in the end, nothing really significant gets done. Yeah, you gain lots of experience, but you’ll never get there. This scenario happens to me all the time, but now I learned a new way to overcome it.
.
So, what is ‘dream catcher’ really? Well, it could be just a piece of paper or a booklet, where you write down your craziest ideas. Make sure it follows you wherever you go. If it’s too much of a hassle, just write the ideas down anywhere and transfer them to the booklet or anything it might be, when you get the chance. This way, your ideas will not be forgotten, and whenever you need to start a new project or target, you’ll not be cracking your head looking for ideas. You’ll know where to look for them.
.
Well, hope this will help you organize your dreams just a little bit. Let me know if you have other methods to share. Thanks for dropping by. See you again tomorrow.
