Glossaries

Some of the terms only Malaysians use, or any other uncommon terms.

Ang Moh Kao / Ang Moh = an insulting term for Caucasians. Ang Moh = Red Hair, Kao = Monkey.

Anjing Liar = In Malay terms, Anjing=Dog, Liar=Wild. Therefore wild dog. This term is used as a homophone(same sound, different meaning) to the word Engineer

Bahasa Rojak= Rojak is a type of food which mixes many fruits and vegetables. Bahasa is language. Bahasa Rojak therefore means, the mixture of two or more languages.

Bananian= Someone related to a banana. Normally used to describe a Chinese who is yellow on the skin, but only understands English, therefore, white inside.

Bian Tai = Pervert in Chinese

Bomoh= A Malay Traditional Healer / Wizard

Eat Snake = A direct translation of Malay and Chinese language, which means not doing work at work time

hamsap= Chinese interpretion for being yellow minded

Hao Lian = Hokkien term for being proud of ownself
Limpeh/Limpek= Hokkien term for “your father” which normally refers to the speaker himself.

Niama/Niamah= Your mother

Papaya Farm= men favourite playground - brothel

Pau Ka Liao = Hokkien expression for “everything also do”

Sia sui = embarassing / disgrace. Example: this is so sia sui!!!

Tulan = A hokkien word which translates into pig’s testicle. It is normally used to express frustration.
